At the start of Anybody Out There? by Marian Keyes, our heroine Anna Walsh has lost her own perfect man and is desperate to get back to New York to find him. The problem is, she's flat on her back in her parents' house and can't even change the channel ? or her pajamas ? without her mother's help. Oh, and did we mention that her parents live in ... more »Ireland? Well, her parents and her self-absorbed and stunningly beautiful little sister, who moonlights as a private detective. Yup. Pretty far from her Manhattan digs, Best Job in the World?, her friends and most importantly, her mysteriously missing husband, Aidan. Worse, her mother is monitoring her every move and does not want her, under any circumstances, to try and contact him. What's going on? Told in four parts, the majority of Anybody Out There? is set in the seriously cutthroat (and seriously fascinating) world of high-end beauty products. Anna works for the public relations department of CandyGrrl, a cutting-edge cosmetics brand. That means each morning she has to dress the part ? complete with orange tights and crazy hats. With hysterical details she catalogs each outfit in a morning email to her husband. But why is he never writing back? And why can't she get the smell of gardenias out of her head? Speaking of which, her friends all think she's losing hers, especially when she decides to contact a certain famous psychic to help track down Aidan (don't worry, she's not crazy ... just desperate!).

How we describe the condition of our books

We are very proud of the condition of the books we sell (please read our testimonials to find out more!)

New: Exactly as it says.

As New: Pretty much new but shows small signs of having been read; inside it will be clean without any inscriptions or stamps; might contain a remainder mark.

Very Good: Might have some creases on the spine; no hard cracks; maybe slight forward lean and short inscription inside; perhaps very minor bumping on the corners of the book; inside clean but the page edges might be slightly yellowed.

Good: A few creases on the spine, perhaps a forward lean, bumping on corners or shelfwear; maybe an inscription inside or some shelfwear or a small tear or two on the dustjacket; inside clean but page edges might be somewhat yellowed.

Fair: In overall good condition, might have a severe forward lean to the spine, an inscription, bumping to corners; one or two folds on the covers and yellowed pages; in exceptional cases these books might contain some library stamps and stickers or have neat sticky tape which was used to fix a short, closed tear.

Poor: We rarely sell poor condition books, unless the books are in demand and difficult to find in a better condition. Poor condition books are still perfect for a good read, all pages will be intact and none threatening to fall out; most probably a reading copy only.
